Released in 1982 by CBS Electronics, the ColecoVision was ahead of its time selling over 1 million units in its first year (until the great video game crash of 1983, that is. Thanks, E.T.!). The graphics capability surpassed those of the rival Atari 2600 unit, and an Atari-2600 compatible expansion module was also available.
